Description
Silky dogwood is a large shrub most often found in moist to wet soils and growing in thickets along stream sides. When used in concert with other bottomland trees and shrubs, silky dogwood can minimize streamside erosion, stabilize stream banks, and mitigate flooding. Its fruit is an eye-catching electric blue eaten by songbirds, insects, rodents, and white-tailed deer. Plant silky dogwood seedlings in partial shade.
