Description

Eastern white pine is a tall tree growing 80-120 feet in height characterized by its horizontal branches; long, slightly curved cones; and silver-green to blue-green needles. Eastern white pine will grow on dry to moist soils, but wet sites usually result in root rot. Eastern white pine trees are not fire resistant. Native to eastern Tennessee and the northern Cumberland Mountains, they may be found mixed with northern hardwood species such as northern red oak and sugar maple, and species of high elevations such as a red pine, eastern hemlock, and balsam fir. Historically important to the colonial shipping industry, eastern white pine is currently used for Christmas trees, ornamental plantings, and some niche wood products.

All pine species are treated with Permethrin insecticide.
