Description

Pecan, also called sweet pecan, is a large tree growing 130-150 feet in height. It is the largest growing tree in the hickory family. Pecans are known for their edible nuts widely used in baking. Pecans grow moderately fast with nut production beginning 7-10 years from planting. Pecan varietals have been developed for commercial nut production. Pecan is found with sycamore, sweetgum, boxelder, and American elm. It is commonly used in city landscaping. Pecan wood is very hard and used in flooring and wooden tool handles.
