Description

Water tupelo is a moderately sized tree, growing 70-90 feet in height, native to western Tennessee. Water tupelo grow in very wet to flooded sites in full sun as a pure stand or in a mix with baldcypress, ash, and other flood-tolerant species. Flowers provide the nectar for tupelo honey. Water tupelo fruit is valued as a wildlife browse for wood duck, squirrels, raccoons, and white-tailed deer. Its hard wood is used for furniture, cabinetry, flooring, trim, and molding.
